AC Widebody Service To USA

Sun Jul 13, 2003 5:38 am

What Air Canada routes serve the United States with widebodies? I know SFO and LAX had 767 service at one point. However, do these airports still get widebodies? Any other U.S. airports? Thanks.

Obviously Honolulu is served year-round with widebodies in addition to Maui during the winter. I also think YVR-ANC is served with an international 763 a couple days a week instead of the regular 320.

The new Vancouver-Anchorage route is often flown with the B763, but most of the time it is an A320.

During the Cruise Season FLL use to be served by 2 763's and from time to time you'ed see a charter 762 landing around the time one of the 763's was pushing back.

In the past it wasn't uncommon 2 AC 767's, a C3000 757, Royal 757 or 732, and a L1011 or A310 from AirTransat sitting at Term 4.

Ive seen the AC A330 IN MIA during the winter months as well as
the B767 near daily. The L-1011 used to operate to LAX many
years ago...

YYZ-MIA route has 767s year-round. During the summer only on two of 21 weekly flights (SaSu), but during the winter it is daily. MIA-YVR service is a 767-300ER between mid-Dec and early April (ski season), FLL-YYZ has winter weekend 767 service and FLL-YUL, which will be three dailies this winter, will have one of them on a 767. Also 767s this winter are one of two daily YYZ-TPA and one of the four daily LAX-YYZ runs, as well as two of the three weekly YYZ-SJU flights. This winter there will be no widebodies to SFO, JFK, or MCO, though those markets do see them once and a while (also, slighly off topic, but YUL-TPA is back this Winter).

During the Ontario march break, AC uses A330s on YYZ-MCO flights. Canadians LOVE Florida, it's ridiculous! The rest of the year it's 767s in the winter, then 320s/737s during the off-peak summer season.

You mean LGA right? Or the JFK-YVR flight? I think AC only flies to JFK from Vancouver, Im not sure if it's year round though?

I remember seeing AC 767's flying to SFO from YYZ regularly in the past. I wonder why AC switched to the A320 on this route, unless the new US-Canada bilateral air agreement allowed a lot more US-based airlines to fly transborder routes.
