Thessaloniki, Perpignan, Trieste, Skopje, Gdansk, Salzburg, Leipzig, Vilnius, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Ljubljana, Stavanger are the European destinations I can think of that they've cut.
Internationally there are Baltimore, Santiago, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, San Juan, San Jose(CR), Havana, Cancun, Pittsburgh, Abidjan, Gaborone, Durban(now served internally in SA not direct from London), Islamabad, Adelaide, Taipei, Kano.
There are bound to be more I just can't think of them right now!

BA used to operate a daily LHR-Stuttgart-Thessaloniki service using the A320.

British Airways no longer serve TPE. They previously flew to both TPE & MNL from HKG.

Indeed BA were RTW - VC10s across the Pacific. How cool is that? LAX-HNL-HND, LAX-HNL-SYD, LAX-HNL-S Pacific-AKL, SFO-HNL-NRT-HKG and others.

Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Anchorage were all served in the 90s.
Now no longer.

Closer to home, the Internal German Services (IGS) serving Berlin from Munster, Cologne, Hannover and I think Bremen and Hamburg disappeared with the reunification of Germany.

And further away, New Zealand was served, both Auckland and Christchurch via Oz and that died some years ago. Yeah, BA012: CHC-AKL-PER-SIN-BAH-LHR was the route.

Cheers,

BWN was indeed served by 747-136's:
BA 11: LHR-MCT-SIN-BWN-SYD-MEL
Return flight was BA14. Service operated once weekly.

BA had a daily JFK-LGW flight. It inherited it when BA acquired British Caledonian. It operated initially with a 747-100/200, then a DC10-30, then an L1011, and then it settled as a 767-300ER before it was yanked after 09/11.

BA served BWN until the mid 1980s as mentioned as Brunei was still a British Colony until 1984. Zizou - BA also flew LHR-KUL-CGK until 1998.

Anyone mention Panama City? Not only did they fly there (with 747s), they came so close to crashing there that the jumbo landed at Panama with branches and twigs in the landing gear.

Surprisingly, nobody mentioned Port of Spain, Trinidad, which BOAC then BA served for many years. POS was ultimately served twice weekly via BGI with 747 Classics until 1994 when BA axed the service due to low demand and yield. BA subsequently started serving TAB in 1998 but, despite several rumours, has never returned to POS.

ps. KIN remains a BA destination - it was MBJ which was stopped.

Destinations served by British Airways in 1988 just after the British Caledonian takeover, that they no longer serve.

Info from their 1987/88 Annual Report.

Anchorage
Pittsburgh
San Diego

Montego Bay
San Juan

Abidjan
Banjul
Douala
Durban
Freetown
Garborone
Kano
Khartoum
Kinshasa
Luxor
Monrovia

Dahran

Islamabad
Karachi

Kuala Lumpur
Manila
Osaka

Adelaide
Auckland
Brisbane
Christchurch
Perth

Ankara
Basle
Bergen
Munster
Stavanger
Sylt

I have left out destinations that are no longer operated by a British Airways aircraft, but are still served from the UK by a British Airways branded-service operated by another airline. For example, British Airways flights to Tunis are now operated by GB Airways.

There are many more places that BA have served, especially in the prop and early-jet eras when there were a huge number of multi-stop services operating via some pretty obscure places long since gone from the major long-haul airlines' networks...

Georgetown, Guyana is another former BA destination - that route was pulled sometime in the early 1980s.

Haven't they also abolished Perpignan, from what I remember it was operated weekly from Gatwick.

I believe at one point BA also operated GLA-BOS/YYZ/JFK. I remember seeing GLA-JFK in the schedules as a 757, but the BOS/YYZ info is secondhand. I heard that 757s were used on that route as well.

DeltAirlines.....the "regional" JFK routes were BHX-JFK-YYZ & GLA-JFK-BOS, both on 757's until they were axed.

No one mentioned Baghdad!!  Smile

Seriously, although they still serve Birmingham, they used to fly JFK- Birmingham UK with DC-10s (a la Caledonian).

How crazy was that in the late 80s/ early 90s? They flew LHR-JFK with 747s (-100s and -200s in those days), MAN-JFK with L-1011s then 767s, BHX-JFK with DC-10s, LGW-JFK with DC-10s, and also operated a number of aircraft into EWR (from LHR & LGW, I believe). It is so boring today... no more Birmingham or Gatwick to New York flights and everything from LHR is with 744s (except one 777 to Newark I think). It will be even worse when Concorde makes its final trip - very sad  Sad

Still, airlines do not exist to serve us nuts with a large airliner variety. They are there to make money and obviously BA is committed to the 744 on this route. In time, this will probably give way to the 777.
None shall pass!!!!

BHX-JFK was initially served with the 767 & latterly the 757. DC10's were only ever used on routes to/from LGW. Since the takeover of BCal LGW DC10 routes have been operated at some time or another:
LAX/SAN
LUN
Sanaa
DXB/CMB
AUH/CMB
DFW
IAH
ATL
JFK
TPA
NAS/GCM
CUN
SJU
KIN/MBJ
PHX/SAN
KAN/ACC
BAK
TLV
FAO........all to/from LGW.

Hope this helps.
