Just a few observations from my weekend trip LGB
* Both flights (LGB
on Sat, and LAS
on Mon) were packed -- 100% full. Las Vegas is a popular destination for Southern Californians, but there is a lot of competition on the route (HP, WN
to name a few). B6
seems to be holding its own on its 2 daily flights LGB
. And JetBlue wasn't the "low-cost" option either. We had to pay $150/ticket, and we got them over a month in advance. I could have gotten $100/ticket fares on AA
only a week before departure (LAX
* In-flight service was great, with drink AND snack service completed on a 43 minute flight. You won't see that on ANY of the competitors I mentioned. Add in the DirecTV and the leather seats, and it's no wonder the flights were full.
* The A320 seems to do fine in the "hot & high" airports. We left Las Vegas at 1:10pm yesterday, and it was 112 degrees. I didn't notice any particular issue getting the bird off the ground.
Overall JetBlue did a great job on a short flight. It's no wonder they are profitable and popular. In fact, I'd go as far to say that some people will pay a premium (over regular discounted tickets) to fly JetBlue. I know we did.
