Emirates A330 Lifts Record Breaking Cargo Load

Thu Jul 17, 2003 3:30 pm

EK Skycargo lifted 29 tons in the belly of an A332 from Karachi to Dubai last week breaking the world record of 28 tons carried by another A332 of theirs from Johannesburg in Feb 2001. What record have they broken exactly? was it for EK Cargo, the A332, or Pakistan?

I would imagine it is the record for the cargo carried in this particular type of plane, A332....that is a high number considering the plane wasnt a freighter....do you know what the cargo was itself?...thanks though for the interesting bit of information

I would consider 28T JNB/DXB presumably non stop as a far better record for a passenger A332 !
I remember one good load of 32T plus 250 pax on a normal 741 TYO/ANC/CDG that was way back in the seventies. Since then all planes can do better !
Any member familiar with the durian traffic from BKK to HKG can probably come up with nice figures !?

Hi,
well 28 tons in a A330-200 is quite much!
During my times at the airport we managed to get 21 Tons in the Belly of an A300-600 plus the luggage of about 140 Pax. The block flight time for the flight was 5 hours.

Regards
Amir

When I was a UAL loadplanner, I worked a 777 with 67,000 Lbs (33.5 tons or 30,391 KG) of freight in the pits. It was a flight from EWR-LHR and had a light passenger load. I do know that is not the 777 record at UA though.

One time at GA/LAX we loaded 59,982kgs of cargo on our combi
with a full paxload of 300. That sucker was stuffed to the gills and
at the time was within 300kgs of the all time Combi uplift record.
IF you get the right type of dense cargo, you can really load out
an aircraft. Its quite an accomplishment when you set a record,
be it aircraft, airline, or city.
Cargo doesn't whine, moan, or complain
