Pan Am To Fly MHT To South Carolina

Fri Jul 18, 2003 10:02 pm

News 9 TV in NH reported last night that Pan Am will begin flights from Manchester, NH to Charleston SC via their 727 aircraft. I tried to find a link on Pan Am's website and WMUR's website to no avail.

This is good news for MHT and Pan Am. Even though we all know it's not the original Pan Am, it is nice to see them growing.

Good news! Last I checked they had suspended ops and then come back and bought 24 UA 727s.

I noticed that Boston-Maine Airways (operating as PanAm Clipper Connection) is scheduled to start service at GON (Groton/New London, CT). Poor Groton can use all the help it can get, especially since the only other air carrier, USAirways Express, is pulling out in Sept.

When is this service supposed to begin? I would love to get an up close view of some of the Pan Am 727s, and maybe even some pics worthy of posting here? (Which I haven't done yet, but I have aspirations.) I live a couple of hours from Charleston, and go down there on occasion. If I knew when to look for a PA 727, I definitely would!

Thanks for the info!

Nonstop 727's from MHT and SFB to Myrtle Beach begin in September!

I think the MHT flight will do very well for them.

Unfortunately the news clip was brief and didn't say exactly when it would begin. It did mention that a golf tour company was also involved with Pan Am because Charleston is a popular golfing area.

fyi- it looks like the 72 flights and pan ams representation at bgr is gone. b and m is maintaining a presence there. bgr has been one of the only long term airports for these guys. they just get the b and m set up into bangor and pa pulls out. the original game plan was for them to compliment oneanother. the web site does suggest 72 flights to myrtle beach in a couple of months a couple of days a week (from mht). hmmm.

Good to hear Pan Am is starting some MHT routes. Are they planning to pull out of Portsmouth, or are they staying?
