AirTran 717 In GSP Now

Wed Jul 23, 2003 4:16 am

Citrus 575 from EWR to ATL diverted to GSP due to the thunderstorms passing over ATL. Delta diverted several aircraft to CAE and BHM. The line is passing through but ATL remains on a ground stop until at least 1545 Local. Ah, Atlanta in the summer...fantastic. Even better when I'm not working!

I also noticed Martinair diverted their MD-11 to CLT. I just spoke to a counterpart of mine and he said they are averaging about a 180 minute delay right now, its gonna be an interesting in ATL

Man, I'm glad I'm not going back to work till tomorrow when the weather should be a little better by then! I'm sure RDU flights are a mess too!

Oh boy, then the airport will be packed tonight. I'm working a split shift today because two of the newstands (one on B, one on D) are closing for remodeling, and I'm having to go in to pull all of the books and magazines out of my shop on B (thankfully, it's a small shop, you get more than 4 people in there, and it's crowded) later on this evening (in about 2 hours to be exact) so I'll have to fight the crowds on the concourse.

Well, the storms have passed. We only ended up diverting three flights, one each to MCN, GSP, and AGS. I'm told they are operating about 2-3 hours behind schedule and expect that to continue for the rest of the night. Srbmod, take a good look at C for me and tell me how it looks. I'll be back in tommorrow.

JetBlue has diverted three flights into SWF (Newburgh).
These were West Coast to JFK flights, I believe.

SWF is not JetBlue's next hub!  Smile
None shall pass!!!!

Groundstop,

I didn't have time to stop on C (as none of those shops have been scheduled for refurb yet), but if it was anything like B was, it probably looked like a refugee camp. I was on B from about 7:15-8:30 pm, and B was so crowded people were blocking the middle of the concourse, leaving a space of 5 feet for people to walk both directions down. Delta's flights were running between 60-90 minutes behind schedule. D didn't look too bad, at least on D South, I was over there about 9:00 pm, and it was not too crowded

Thanks for the heads up Srbmod. I look forward to getting the final totals today. I know we CX'd the better part of our 1700 push which comes back for the 2200 push. I drove by the airport (after watching the Braves demolish the Cubs at Turner), and saw several AirTran aircraft landing at around 2330. That, obviously is not normal. Turns out they were from the 2000 push! I'll get the details today and get back to ya.
