Accident At Palwaukee Airport?

Thu Jul 24, 2003 10:24 pm

I was just watching the news as I was getting ready for work and they broke in during the traffic report and said that Palwaukee airport in Illinois has been shut down because of a "Hard landing" Does anyone have any more info on this? I just wanted to know what type of aircraft it was.

Hello GalantVR4.

I don't mean to answer a question with a question, however, I dont have any info about this hard landing .... I live in Toronto. Big grin

I just wanted to ask if Palwaukee Airport is mainly used for GA aircraft and corporate turboprops & bizjets, with only a few regional carriers using it, perhaps.

What's the largest type of aircraft that usually lands there?

The airport's only runway appears to be around 5,000 feet long.

There is no regional service at all.

Only GA and corporate aircraft.

Hello Flyingbronco05.

Thanks for your reply.

OK, so there aren't any regional Dash-8's, etc, landing there.

We might not know the type of aircraft yet, but we have a good idea of it's size.

The largest & fastest aircraft that uses Palwaukee Airport is probably something like a Dassault Falcon 50 bizjet.  Big thumbs up

I've actually photographed a Cessna Citation X at Palwaukee.

Wrong again.

PWK gets GV's and Global Express' a few times a week.

Flyingbronco is correct. PWK receives G-V traffic on a regular basis. In fact one is based there. This is addition to Motorola's Falcon 900 EXs.

It's a great airport to spot bizjets on a Friday evening.

Despite the take off weight restrictions, I have seen a 737 there once.

That was cool to see.

Last weekend there was a B-17 and a B-24 there on display and they had the chance to fly on them. But me being a college student I found the $400 they charged to fly in it a little steep. Still is was nice seeing the planes flying overhead.
