Is This Possible: PH-HZV In 2 Different Regions

Fri Jul 25, 2003 1:44 am

I was just scrolling through some photos in the database. And my eyes fell on a pic of Transavia's 738 at SAN, in april 2003:

So far so good, it was leased to Sun Country.
Happens all the time.

But when i clicked on the reg (to see more photos of this bird, i was searching for more sun country pics of it) i saw different dates, different places (USA - Europe), different airliner (Transavia - Sun country) but the same reg!!!
For example (Or click on the reg in the previous photo, to explore it by your self):
Is it possible to be in SAN at 11april 2003 for sun country,
and in that same april in Faro for Transavia:

In june in the same region, Barcelona, also for Transavia:

And on this photo, taken at 21june, for sun country again in phoenix:

Ok, it can be possible, it flew for almost 3 months for Transavia again, and at this moment for Sun Country again.
But doesnt Transavia need it by itself for the summerseason?
Isnt it a bit uneconomical to lease the plane from Europe all the time?

Hope someone has more info!
Cheerio,
Marc
ps. like the pics at SAN though ...

Marc,

It's the same plane as the Dutch register doesn't allow a registration to be used by another aircraft as long as that particular aircraft is still "alive".

Anyway the PH-HZV left for the USA on June 16th after arriving form the USA on its previous lease to Sun Country around April 22nd. From what I've read on the Dutch maling lists I can racall that another B737-800 was supposed to fly for Sun Country during the summer.

But doesnt Transavia need it by itself for the summerseason?

They have leased two B757-300s and a 737-800 (from South African) for the summer season to meet demand and probably the lease of the B757-300 and 737-800 were less than what they receive from Sun Country and Air Berlin (because another B737-800, PH-HZL, is flying for Air Berlin if i'm not mistaken).
