Are JAL MD-11s in the new scheme still known as J-Birds?

I am not sure but I think they are still J Birds because they take a really long time to re paint the planes. However, they could be painted in new colors.

I don't thonk any of the few remaining JAL MD11 will be painted in the new scheme as they will all be gone to UPS for freighter conversion very soon.

I think all of JAL's MD-11s will be sold to UPS by 2004-2005, so no point painting the aircraft in new colours....

Actually the MD-11s will be sent to Boeing, as they’ll be doing the freighter conversion work, after which Boeing will deliver them to UPS.
