Another consideration is whether one is entering or exiting the country, and therefore, going through Canadian customs. Entering, the most efficient operation I've run into is in Calgary (YYC
). Lines seem to move quickly, even through the customs area.
Exiting the country is another matter, at least to the US. My last visit to Vancouver (YVR
) in June, the line through the duty-free store, through the airport improvement-fee stand, through US customs, and through security was 90 minutes. Many standing in line missed their planes. By contrast, I've exited through Calgary a half hour.
To give a straight answer to the original question, for me Charlottetown (YYG) is the fastest -- deplane to airport exit in five minutes. It's a provincial capital of 40,000 with only two airlines, JetsGo and Air Canada
