It's easy to guess why MX
wants to get rid of the 57s... they only fly the Airbus 320 family.... 727s are gone... F100s will follow the same steps... so the 757 can't stay in the fleet... only if MX
gets the 767 or 777 or 747 (considering it's cheaper than the 777) but they will never get this type of aircrafts...
is definetly searching for the fleet commonality.... and I could say that they are getting it...
I agree with you about MX
having two different types of engiens in the A320 and A319s, that is not commonality, but I also think that when an airline have a large fleet up to 10 aircrafts per model., like MX
with 12; A319 (and probably they will get more to replace all F100s), I think that cost in spares aren't that high... it would be more expensive when an airline only flies 6 A320 and 4 A319s with different engines, but that's not MX
case. More over, having two different engines, Mexicana got the capacity to give MX
service to more companies....
Off topic, today I received another e-mail, but this time are AM
news... they told me that AM
is looking forward to get the license to install new winglets in the 737s. They said that the first two new 737s will get WL
in the US, but from the 3rd to the 15th they will probably be installed in Mexico City at AeroMexico's MX
hangar... also with this license, AM
will have the capacity to install WL
to more new 737s or 737NG all ready in the air without WL
Also, they say that the first 737 will arrive in the last two weeks or last week of September! In order to start service in October!
