Why Did Polynesian Dump 767s?

Why did Polynesian Airlines not keep their 767s? They certainly could use it on their Honolulu and Sydney routes. Also, maybe they could compete with Air Fiji and operate to Los Angeles and not have to code-share with Air Tahiti Nui.

Also, when Polynesian op'd for QANTAS, they used both their 737-800 aircraft, so which aircraft did they use for their other routes? Their HNL flight required the 738. Also, they only had 2 Twin Otters and a 737-300 left. What happened?

Because the 767 bankrupted the airline!
The fares charged for SYD-LAX (via APW & HNL), for example, were so low the route could not be sustained. Services started with an AC 763, then were supposed to switch to an ex-KU 762 that wasn't ETOPS certified- due to that little oversight, the aircraft never left the QF SYD maintenance base while with PH. As awhile they alos used a leased in Express One DC-10 (ex Finnair).

The 733 was replaced with a second 738.

Whilst operating for Qantas the two 737-800s were able to maintain Polynesian's schedule, after the deal was terminated one -800 was returned to the lessor. Their Boeing 737-3Q8 is now leased to Qantas as VH-TAB.

Just a side note: 737-8Q8 5W-SAM was returned to ILFC in April/May. Aircraft now operates for Miami Air as N734MA.

PH actually operated a total of 3 767's in their own right. They were C FBEG a 762 leased from AC which kept the basic AC red colours of the time with Polynesian titles, then CFMWP a 763 in full PH colours and then the ex Kuwait machine which was registered 5W TEA from memory, it was also in full colours except that the belly was bare metal and not painted white.
I may be mistaken but I was lead to believe that the delay in introducing this aircraft was the amount of corrosion found in it when QF was performing the overhaul before hand over to PH, they may have also brought it up to ETOPS standard as well, but the aircraft definitely operated for PH.
