Wed Jul 30, 2003 1:35 pm

Why doesn't UA have one of their planes have the Star Alliance livery? If they do what type of plane is it. Thanks!! Big grin

They have/had a 767. I saw a picture of it in a book.

N653UA has been painted in this livery for quite sometime:

A Little Egotism?

Wed Jul 30, 2003 9:48 pm

One other little subtle thing I noticed:

All of the airlines that had all of the logos, all put "their" logo on FIRST. Notice how on the United 767, United is at the FRONT of the plane. and on the Lufthansa plane, Lufthansa is at the front and United is on the BACK.

Is there a reason for that, or is it just a little self bragging?

Here are a few of them.

All carriers in any alliance usually list themselves first, and then the others alphabetically. For example, if you go to an Iberia VIP lounge, you'll see a sign with all the OneWorld carriers listed, but Iberia will be at the top. This is most probably what's going on here. Take a look at your third example here. This Mexicana a/c has the Mexicana logo at the front, then all the others go backwards in alphabetical order, until they reach Varig, which starting with V, is the lowest letter and therefore shown last, unless on a Varig aircraft, where it would be shown at the front.

The same was true with the earlier style, but Varig had not yet joined, leaving United the carrier with the lowest-placed letter and therefore at the back of those a/c which weren't its own.

Hope this makes sense!

UA don't be that foolish and change your color-scheme into star-alliance-like!!!
The own scheme is one of the most beautiful , so don't change it!!!

I think the Star airlines were required to put their section first so you'd know what airline it was.

Even if they were required to do so, they own the plane, and people would see the United name first.

N653UA is still in its original Star Alliance livery (or at least it was two days ago when I saw it come into SEA).

Is there a special livery for the Oneworld carriers?

The UA plane that is 1/3 UA Livery and 2/3 Star Alliance Livery is quite possibly the stupidest livery scheme ever...blah!!!
