When KLM ordered 3 factory new 747-300s (after the program was launched by Swissair in the early 1980s), KLM updated many (I think 8) of their newer 747-200s......the extra seating capacity of the streched upper deck (SUD) was especially interesting for KLM which operates many 747-300s in a Combi Configuation.
KLM's original 747-200s did not get the SUD treatment and left the KLM fleet upon the arrival of the 747-400.
Only airlines that converted 747-200s to SUD standard were KLM and UTA. The UTA aircraft went to Air France, some of KLM's are still with KLM, the rest are parked at Mojave. JAL operate two 747-100SR/SUD models - if I remember correctly one was a conversion and the other was a built as a 747-100SR/SUD.

When QF first got their 300's they referred to them as SUD's, until someone pointed out that SUD in medical terms is Sudden Unexpectd Death, hence forth they were known as EUD's, Enlarged Upper Deck !!
