Yesterday's Tstms At ORD

Mon Aug 04, 2003 10:51 pm

Since those violent tstms yesterday, here's what the FAA said about people going to ORD: ORD is under a ground delay. Here's what the FAA is saying: Due to WEATHER, THUNDERSTORMS, there is a Traffic Management Program in effect for traffic arriving Chicago OHare International Airport, Chicago, IL (ORD). This is causing some arriving flights to be delayed an average of 3 hours and 42 minutes with some arriving flights receiving as much as 16 hours and 39 minutes delay. To see if you may be affected, select your departure airport and check "Delays by Destination".

16 hours?????? It was hailing here earlier... just pellets....

Were people stuck in planes for several hours like during a DTW blizzard?

Don't even ask about Chicago and weather! Midway was a mess again yesterday as well. Weather has delayed my departure from work the last three out of 4 days. My suggestion is to avoid Chicago when flying!

MDW was not as bad as ORD. The worse delay that i saw coming out of MDW yesterday was a flight LGA-MDW-DEN recieving a 3 hour delay. I do believe that they switched aircraft and ran the MDW-DEN segment ontime. The delays for C8 in GRR weren't as bas as they could have been.

WMUPilot....

Good to hear GRR had a nice night!  Smile The last three nights I've worked our flight 3877 has been over 2 hours late. Last night we had one passenger connecting to flight 3334 to GRR........our flight was 2 hours late and guess what, flight 3334 was on-time!  Pissed  Pissed

On a related note.....we had "B" celebrities Jim McMahon and Vince Coleman fly out last night as well.

I am very lucky to arrived Chicago O'Hare around 12:15pm. When I got on CTA train near Harlem it started raining and lighting. Last Friday, I was stuck for 5 hours at O'Hare. Please read my trip report ORD-STL-ORD.

Yesterday was a nightmare! I worked a 16-hour shift at the UA Operations Ctrl Center during and after the storm. What a mess!

yeah, i came in on a flight from PIT at 11am, and was supposed to go onto SLC at around 3pm...ended up leaving at 5:30, right as the 2nd ground stop started kicking in. the inbound plane that was for my SLC flight was diverted, along with many others probably, to RFD. if not snow, or wind, then t-storms...

We were lucky yesterday at GRR. Our worse delay was our IB 3348 and OB 3335. The flight was an hour behind when it got to GRR and then the ground stop kicked in. It left 2hrs 2min late around 8pm. We are lucky with your midnight because our 755p departure turns around and comes right back to GRR. So no matter how late the 755 departure is as long as it gets to MDW by 930 CDT the RON will be ontime

Welcome to the forums. I have a question for you since you work at WHQ. Can we still park in that gravel lot across from WHQ and take the shuttle bus to ORD? I might fly out for a few days next week and since I'm furloughed I can't access the lots at ORD. Do we need a permit? Thanks for any info!
