How Many DL 737-200 In Service?

Tue Aug 05, 2003 8:24 am

I believe they had 54, then after 9/11 they dropped to like 29. Have they retrieved some desert jets?

There are still quite a few flying into MCO as Delta Express, but I think as Song takes over a route a 737 goes into Mainline flying mainly out of CVG.

I was on one this morning from MSP-ATL. There were two parked at the Delta gates overtnight, with the second one being used for the second flight to ATL. I hadn't flown one of those for a long time.

One is going to start (or already has) flying one of the ATL-OKC turns.

I've also seen one on the ATL-BNA route.

I know Delta has scheduled one or two to replace some of the MD80's used for the ATL-STL flights. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up adding some 737-800's or 757's for that route when American begins operating the new reduced schedule in/out of STL.

737-200's operate 4 out of the 5 flights on the CVG-MSY route.

There is a daily round trip between GRR-CVG operated by a 737-200. Why aren't they flying this on an MD-88, like they used to?

I thought the GRR-CVG flight was run by a 737-300?

I am taking a -200 ATL-CVG on 11/1.

727...I do believe they have pulled some back out of storage. They need a 100 seat aircraft and the already owned 73Ss (or 732 in today's world) was the best short term solution.

I was on N310DA CVG-DCA 7/26 and inquired the same question to a F/A. Her answer was about 20 mostly out of CVG to PHL/DCA/RDU/CAE etc.

Love 'em... SDF has 737-200 from CVG and ATL and to ATL. Nice seeing the old boys flying into here, but a 737-800 sure would be nice too!

CLE-CVG is operated with 737-200s as well as about half the CLE-ATL flights.

I have no idea why no one answers the question, they just say where they see the plane. To help as much as I can, I was told when I had a friend look up the rotation was 12-16, just about what 762ER said. Now this was before some may have been pulled from the "Death Grips" of Mojave. My understanding is under 20 though.

Their webiste shows 52, though it doesn't breakdown how many are in the desert vs. in service. However, as they list all 52 I would guess it to mean that they intend on bringing all 52 into service. It would at least indicate that they don't consider those planes as retired. For instance, the MD-11 count (and this is from March according the site) is 14, which does not include the plane that they went ahead and set to the desert due to damage. 52 737-200's would be a close replacement of number of seats when compared to the 36 757's that are going to Song service

According to www.737online.org fleet list DL mainline is operating 30 737-200 Advanced as of June 1, 2003. They are a mixture of original DL and former Western Airlines equipment.

By the way, I have not been on a DL 737-200.

I was talking to the 737-200 pilot on an ATL-HSV flight, and he said that Delta plans on keeping the 737-200 online until at least 2006. So, good news for you 737-200 lovers. Does anyone know about how old those planes are?
