New Gates Open At DFW

Wed Aug 06, 2003 12:13 am

So has anyone heard anything in the past few weeks about who the tenant will be at DFW to fill those 4 gates that are open at terminal B? Jetblue, Airtran (boo), Cathay Pacific (Ha), ???

It's going to be JetBlue. They are going to lease some 757's that are parked in the desert and take on AA to JFK and LGB  Smile

JayDavis, is this your dream or are you getting some hot inside information? This issue has been discussed at length in other posts, but I never get tired of it.

Another discussion on this board talks about the lack of service from JFK to domestic markets such as DFW, ORD, DEN, etc. There are only two flights daily from DFW-JFK, both on AA. I think JetBlue could make AA sweat a little, but most DFW business travelers will still take AA to LGA.

According to our groundcrew in DFW, AirTran is getting two of them.

Airtran is moving to B as Travtl said. That is to help with confusion between American Trans Air and Airtran. America West gets the others as they have hired new ground and ticket personel, because CO had been providing them in the past. I do know this for a fact. I havn't heard about Jet Blue, yet I'm not saying that they won't begin service.

Actually, Jet Blue is using A-318's for their new service to DFW. They are going to use some that F9 won't be using since they can't get enough gates at DEN.  Smile

I think they'll supplement these A-318's with local service in and out of DFW with some Convair 580's to LBB, AMA, MAF, ABI, SPS, ACT, SJT, etc...

America West sure could use a couple of their own gates at DFW rather than sharing CO's.

I fly DFW-PHX-ONT ONT-PHX-DFW every week as I recently took a contract position in Southern California. Nobody in Dallas is hiring! :-(

Anyway, those flights are having phenominal load factors as far as I can tell. 100% full every time.

They need their own gates..When I connect through PHX, they always point out my ticket says "Continental" and do a 2nd look.

I had never flown HP until I took this job.. I'll tell ya what, this airline is not as bad as people make it out to be! Always on time, walk up fares are around 440.00, which blows away any AA or DL fare to the same airport. Airplanes have been spotless and the seat pitch is generous.

I'll admit, my expectations were set pretty low because of all the comments I've read on this forum.. but with reward tickets at 20k miles and the quality of service I've experienced, why would I fly another carrier?

Where did you her Frontier Gave up some of its 318's. I doubt JetBlue would buy a 318 over a 320 (Like All Other Planes They Own) to such a big market. Frontier does have a gate Problem but they did not cancle orders.

Yes, I was pulling your leg about Frontier giving up their A-318's. What I didn't realize until this weekend though was that Frontier can only park their new A-318's on the north side of Terminal A in Denver. They think the tail is too high to fit under the bridge that goes from the main terminal to terminal A.

Wow !!

Milemaster, what do you mean that your ticket says Continental on it when you fly HP out of DFW?

Because the tickets are printed on Continental's paper stock instead of America West's. Curbside check-in as well as at the ticket counter are currently fully staffed/run by Continental. They even pointed out "Here is your Onepass number" on my ticket where it was actually my America West Flight Fund Number.

A little confusing.

I thought that since CO was pissed at HP for changing their fare structure and since they dumped HP as a partner in their mileage program; that CO would not have anything to do with HP.

That is interesting Milemaster about your HP ticket being printed in CO ticket stock.

It is "really" weird to see F9 next to UA at Terminal B at DFW !!

You'd think those two would want to be as far away from one another as possible !!
