AF has already retired the Concorde, and BA is ending in October. Maintenance costs are high, and it guzzles fuel.

Freakfor747, since you're a 'newbie', do a search on this topic for the last few months, you'll find MANY discussions on it. Essentially Airbus decided maintenance costs were becoming prohibitive and with sharp declines in load factors for British Airways and especially Air France Concordes, there was a consensus that it was an opportune time to retire the SST. I don't want GDB, our resident Concorde expert who works for British Airways to have to type another redundant explanation about this. And it's Concorde, with an E at the end, not 'Concord', like the name of the old car the late American Motors built.

All you really ever need to know about Concorde, it's details, history and retirement, as well as active forums, can be found here, this site is also much liked by those who work on Concorde, for it's detail and accuracy;
