What Are Concorde's Departure Times From LHR?

Mon Aug 11, 2003 4:50 am

Just a few minutes ago I heard a particularly loud sound of jet engines passing overhead in Cardiff. I went out onto the balcony to look but with no luck (indeed it has been hazy and cloudy and this has contributed to the extreme heat here). Nonetheless the plane's din was very loud and continued even as it flew off into the distance. One neighbour, too, was looking skyward to find the source of the racket.

Now, once before on a Sunday evening at about 1900HR I was at the beach at Ogmore and heard a similar racket and looked up to see Concorde racing by. As always it was an awe-inspiring sight. I thus think with full conviction that this was Concorde. Does anybody know the schedule for its services on Sundays, that I may confirm my gut instincts?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Left quite late (again) today, don't know why but I saw it turning sharply overhead on its way out this evening - I live in west London - at about 8pm, maybe slightly after that. So that would mean it most likely was BA001 you heard.

Quite a few delays to departure for that flight recently...!

Because of the record temps at LHR, yesterdays 001 looked to be doing a fuel stop at Gander like last Wenesday, but the temp went down at bit around 18:30 so the crew elected to return to stand, stick a bit more fuel on, allowing a non stop to JFK.
