Does AA Operate 767-200's?

Mon Aug 11, 2003 8:14 am

I was just wondering if AA operates 767-200's. I know that TWA had some of those and I just wanted to know.

AA operates 29 B762, although more than half of them are parked. AA did not acquire TW's B762.

Yes they operate 767-200's. They are mostly flown on the Transcon routes. There is also a few flights to MIA from JFK with 767-200's. A few years ago AA used to fly them to select European cities

AA's 767-200ERs are the dedicated aircraft on flights between New York City and both Los Angeles and San Francisco. They are also used on one service each from JFK to Hamilton, Bermuda and Miami. Currently you also will find them on some BOS and EWR transcons, but that ends next month.

Unfortunately, one of American's 767-200s, being used for one of the BOS-LAX flights, was one of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001  Sad

I know at EWR the 762's will make way next year for 763's direct EWR-LAX with a 757 too. 763's will also take part on a flight from EWR-SJU next year. Finally glad to see more AA widebodies at EWR. As from JFK, more or less direct service on 767 200/300 to SFO and LAX.

American ordered & accepted deliveries on 30 767-223s. N334AA was one of the aircraft used in the Sept 11th holocaust. TWA had 12 762s and 10 763s. AA operated 9 of the 763s when TWA was bought by them, but never in American's colors. Regards.
