Any Update On QF B744ER Wunala?

Tue Aug 12, 2003 12:20 am

Hello All,

Does anyone have any updates (or even pictures) of the new Qantas B744ER "Wunala"? The last thing I saw was the pictures of the all red QF. Has it already been painted? When will it enter service?

I believe it's parked about 2 miles from where this message is being typed at. I was on my way to the ferry dock at Mukilteo and drove around the north end of PAE. Sure enough, there was an all-red QF 744 parked out on the flight line. Haven't seen it flying around here yet. That was about two weeks ago.

I'd take a picture, but I've had a hell of a time getting pictures posted on this website (despite being at the highest resolution), so maybe another spotter around here can get it and have it posted for you.

I do know that John Travolta was up here a while ago and flew a QF744 out of here, perhaps to LAX for it's inaugural to SYD?
And the winner for best actress is....REESE WITHERSPOON for 'Walk the Line'!!!!!!!!

Boeing is not going to paint the artwork on this plane, so until it leaves Everett, it'll stay all red.

Clickhappy posted some gorgeous pictures of it. I saw it about a month ago when I toured the Everett plant.
But that was when I ruled the world

I've just checked flightview.com and there is a Qantas B744 currently in-flight from New Iberia, LA to LAX? Could that be the new Wunala? Maybe it has been painted? It is scheduled to arrive at LAX around 6:45 p.m. PST. Maybe someone form the L.A. area could check it out?

The timing would be right Corbin. She's meant to arrive in Australia on August 18 (today's August 16 here). That would mean a departure from LA on August 16 LA time.

VH-OEJ has arrived in Sydney ... and from Sam Chui's photo it looks as great as it should be!

I'm sure it'll be up here in no time.

Note that the engine cowlings are not painted in "Wunala" style as they were on VH-OJB!

First photo's are already posted by Micheil and Glenn, isn't she beautiful under that Blue Sydney Sky. Saw it today but unfortunatly missed it's arrival. I'm hoping she will be with us for many years to come. I hope Qantas will do one for its' internationally configured A333's come early 2004.

It's a shame the engines are like that. Kind of spoils it.

There is no 747-300 Wunala. There is a 747-300 Nalanji Dreaming though.
