Awright!!!
Although we probably will see a drop in July because of the weather problems we have been experiencing, this is an acknowledgment that we definatly belong in 'The Big League'.
We're no longer 'The Little Engine that Could', but 'The Big Engine That Can'!!

Next, let's do something about the bagstats!

I just read the rankings myself. That was a nice little pat on the back for a hard worked month. Your right about July...MCO has been getting slammed w/ Weather the last two months.

Well yay for ATA. I knew they had found a niche since I began flying them sometimes. Could someone post a link to this list from the DOT? That would be great!

Way to go ATA!

Also does anyone know how is PIT doing? Any chance of ATA adding more transcon service?

Not sure how PIT is doing overall.....but I did check the loads for the last 2 flights on Sunday 8/10 and they were booked to 166 and 139 on our 175 seat 737-800's.

Excellent job TZers! Now, the next target should be getting customers' bags on the correct flight. Especially so for bags transferring between TZ and C8.

This was a great bit of news following a hard month of weather irregularities. Good to see great OTP and customer complaint months recently.

Hey guys, even better news for you: These ranking are for controllable delays only. Weather does not effect these stats as they are UNcontrollable.

Cheers.

Might want to tell the DoT that... They are beginning to collect data on the cause of delays, but the current numbers simply reflect the occurrence of delay. They do not assign culpability.

Hmmm.... I'm looking at the Air Travel Consumer report for August 2003 (Data: June 2003), and it comes out something like this:

Airline (& June 2003 rank)
On-Time June
On-Time 2nd Quarter (& rank)

1. SkyWest
90.3%
90.6% (1)

2. Southwest
85.4%
88.8% (2)

3. America West
85.2%
86.5% (4)

4. ATA Airlines
85.1%
83.8% (11)

5. United
84.4%
85.9% (4)

Maybe I'm looking at statistics different than yours WMUPilot, if I am I'd like to be pointed in the direction of them. I got mine from http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov.

I think the ones on our employee website may have been rounded to the nearest whole....kind cheating but still a big improvement no matter what way you look at it

We recieved these results system-wide I believe a week ago. I included Westjet (the airline I work for) in these totals as, well, we were technically first! The DOT does not include Canadian airlines. I tried to find the statistics in whole on the DOT website, but I couldn't find it. Realistically, ATA is fourth in the States, fifth in North America. The following is what I recieved in an email.

The On-Time-Performance statistics were released today by the U.S. Department of Transportation for North America, with the following top 10 results:

1 - Westjet 92.3%
2 - Skywest 90.2%
3 - Southwest 85.4%
4 - America West 85.2%
5 - ATA 85.1%
6 - United 84.4%
7 - JetBlue 84.4%
8 - Northwest 83.3%
9 - Delta 82.0%
10 - Alaska 81.9%

Average - 82.4%

Thanks to OH-LGA for providing the link.

So, after just a little digging, among US-flagged carriers TZ is actually fourth best in on-time performance and not "tied for second" as originally claimed. And I thought this was the "honest" airline.

And it looks like June was a good month for ATA, but 2Q03 wasn't as good, as TZ finished 11th for the April-June period.

Congratulations to WestJet for beating all US carriers -- I would dearly like to fly them sometime. (They are modeled after Southwest Airlines.)

This isn't true, weather is a big part of it, and is included in the reports.

"Knock what off -- speaking the truth?'

It must be a miserable life you lead. Having to point out what you perceive as the shortcomings of others in order to feel good about yourself. Always looking over your shoulder, hoping to catch them in another "misstep" so that you can run shouting at the top of your lungs..."OOOH, OOOH, OOOH; LOOK WHAT THEY DID, NOW".

If you want to tout the good about your favorite airline, go ahead. CONSTANTLY pointing out what your think are failings of another company is just unseemly and pathetic. IMO.

I totally agree with M717. WNfan you are totally pathetic. Don't post in anymore ATA threads as you look and are made to look like a fool when you do.

WNfan...get a life and stop whining about ATA all the time !!! That's great you live your life for Southwest, they are a great airline, no one here doubts that.

But for gods sake stop making a fool of yourself by acting like an immature child when it comes to ATA !

Your probably embarrassing Southwest employees by your stupid posts !!!

I encourage everyone to go back and look at some of the ridiculous posts WNfan has put on here. Things like WNfan not being able to use ATA's booking engine , crying about ATA's ad campaigns and so on.

If I worked for Southwest I woudnt want to be associated with you in the least bit.

Yeah mother nature wasn't to friendly in the month of June. I know C8 had around 163 cancellations in July compared to 3 in June. But oh well weather is something to play with when you have a hub in the Midwest. Hopefully when the new planes come on scene for C8 some of the bigger stations could see an IND flight.

Baggage is something that needs major work, especially in the transfering at MDW. They have their ups and downs but the biggest problem i see is passengers checking in at MDW an hour before and it fails to make a flight to an out station. I also would think it would be nice if we turned our old maintainence hanger into a passenger lounge and have the busses running constantly...may clear up some of the bussing delays.
