1st KLM 777

Wed Aug 13, 2003 12:06 pm

From newswire
The fuselage sections for KLM's first 777 have been joined to form an airplane body at a Boeing factory in Everett, Wash. KLM is scheduled to take delivery of the aircraft in October.

I was up in the Boeing plant about three weeks ago and walked through the first KLM B777. All that existed was the forward fuselage at that point, with the lavatories, cockpit center console, and cabin overhead bins installed. It won't be too long now.....

I live about 2 miles south of PAE...I'll keep an eye out for it! Although, I've had a nightmarish time getting pictures posted on this website, despite being taken at the highest resolution! Nothing I try seems to work.

Just drove by there this morning -- it's been moved closest to the hangar doors - looks like it's the next aircraft in line to be rolled out of the hangar. Rudder is painted, but it doesn't look like the engines have been attached. For anyone interested, the aircraft out on the flight line as of this morning were:

Vietnam Airlines 777-200 (still 'green' with rudder painted)
Singapore Cargo 747-400F
(2) Singapore Airlines 777s (not sure of sub-type, I only saw them as I passed through the area)
JAL 767-300
Hawaiian Airlines 767-300 (fully painted in HAL colors, but with the rudder in Uzbekistan Airways colors)

I don't get up to Everett very often (I actually live pretty close to BFI -- about 40 miles south of PAE). But when I'm up there, I always take a quick drive past and will post what I see on the line.
