N272AU Ex-USAir Metrojet In Nome, Why?

Thu Aug 14, 2003 3:37 pm

Yes, everyonce and a while we get a little excitement up here in Nome, AK.
Yesterday N272AU, a USAir Metrojet 737-200 arrived in Nome, stayed over night, and departed this morning. Does anybody know where it is going? It was striped of its title (USAir Metrojet) so I'm assuming it has a new owner? Anybody know?

This aircraft was sold to Alameda Corporation in May 2002.

Looks like the flight number was SXA 178 MHV-ANC leaving MHV @ 1613Z 12Aug03 then ANC-OME leaving ANC @ 2235Z then next day 13Aug03 OME-UHSS (KHOMUTOVO). This looks like the ex Metrojet bird?? Did it sit on the Alaska Airlines ramp or over at the Olson Air side? I lived in Nome for over a year and my first airline job was over at Olson. I'm now with Allegheny Airlines (US Airways Express)

SXA = South Cross Aviation.

737-200/QC = rule
