SFO Spotting Report (8 Hours Worth)

Wed Aug 20, 2003 4:49 pm

So, with housesitting on the peninsula over as of tonight, it's back to Oakland where SFO spotting isn't so accessible. That said, with three hours spent SFO spotting yesterday afternoon and five hours this morning/afternoon, I have plenty to report.

First off - fun stuff this morning. Rwy 1R/19L was closed around 10:15. The X-bar was put up on the 1R end and sweeping crews and airport operations trucks were on the runway for some 45 minutes before it was reopened around 11:10.

Among Sunday's highlights:

N36272 - generous use of rudder

N607UA - SFO is UA 767 heaven - the oldie 'City of Denver'. The top of her wings, wing root, engine pylons and APU fairings looked absolutely filthy on climbout from 1R

Sounds like a typical SFO day. Hopefully i 'll be going back up there via SJC and CalTrain/BART

I flew on VBIG to SFO!

When i was staying at the Westin hotel by the airport, every morning i'd sit by the window and between 6:00/7:00 i'd see a UA 777 and a UA 747. Do you know where these were flying to?

Oh and did you see either British Airways 744?

Regards
Stephen
