I had been waiting for CX829 to push back for almost an hour on T1 floor 8. And finally, the plane pushed and departed on rwy 33R. The only thing upset me was that the captain did not put the tail logo light on. Is Cathay still doing so in order to save some money?
The engines are as quiet as those on A343. However, the takeoff run was a bit slow, and it used up about three-forth of the rwy before lift off. I just thought it could perform a bit better on takeoff. At least better than the 343. I love the plane especially those big engines. They look like trent-800s on the 777s.
Today was a bit cold, but it was worth it. It is nice to meet you Steve. Thank you for driving all the way from New Market to see the plane. Unfortunately I did not get the name of another spotter who was holding an ATC radio and was with his gf (I think). You told me where to buy ATC radio from Thershold Aviation. You know who you are.
Just hope Cathay will fly its 346s here more often.
