Now lets see...

Total of 607 delivered to 41 customers upto end July. 3 hull losses (1 China Airlines, 1 Korean, 1 Singapore). So there should be 604 B744s that are alive and flying. I have not taken into consideration those in storage.

When did Korean have a 747-400 write-off? If I remember correctly, the accident in Guam was with a -300.

CactusWings shows 20 in storage in the US Southwest including 17 United, 1 AC and two others.

That doesn't include overseas or short term parking (SARS related ect.)

In 98, a korean 744 ran off the runway on landing, i dont know if this was a total write off, but the whole underside and engines were in very bad shape, no fatalities by the way.

On 05AUG98 KE8702 (B747-400) in inclement weather, bounced and slid 100 meters off the runway upon landing at Cheju before coming to a stop in a grassy area on the edge of a platform. Aircraft was written off.

Thanks for filling me in guys. Those sorts of write-off incidents never make the press (except locally and in professional circles) but are write-offs no less.

Here's the site: http://www.jetphotos.net/census/

The 747 page includes all series, but have it sort by aircraft model and all the -400's will be listed together.
