The Last 2 737-100's In Service.

Mon Aug 25, 2003 10:40 am

The last I heard there was 2 737-100's in service...one for the Mexican A.F. (?) and Aero Continente OB-1745. Is OB-1745 still in service? What routes does it usually fly? Thanks.

Unfortunately OB-1745 which was still in passenger service (domestic flights within Peru) is reported stored at Lima, seen at 08 June 2003 without engines. Let's hope they overhaul it.

Justin,

Yesterday, heard that the Mexican Air Force it's going to sell their 737-130. Maybe it will go to another government from Central/South America, they didn't tell me who is going to be the next owner.

PS. Just aditional information, for the ones who want to know more, the Mexican Air Force is getting another B733 for replacement of this B731.

727LOVER,
at this moment I don't know if they have all been scrapped.
If they have not been scrapped, they are certainly "PERMANENTLY WFU", in other words, they will never fly again.

I believe all of the -100s are now beer cans except for those two. The Aero Continente one is very derelict and parts have been removed...expect this one to be scrapped soon. The Mexican one is supposedly in excellent condition, and hopefully will fly for some time yet.

A sidenote here...the very first 731 is still with us. She'd spent many years as a testbed with NASA. Now I believe she's stored in Mohave, waiting for a place at the Boeing Museum. I've tried looking at Bill Harms' old census, but it's almost 9 months out of date in regard to the rest of the 731 fleet. It's safe to say that out of 30 -100 series built, 25 are gone forever. Regards.

Yeap, the Mexican Air Force 737 it's in excellent conditions! In fact I saw that aircraft yesterday departing at MEX, I was very happy to see it in action again, because the last time I saw it was back in Dec of 2002.
