ATA To Increase Flights To DCA And MSP

Tue Aug 26, 2003 3:14 pm

ATA will be adding a 4th flight to from MDW to DCA and a 6th flight to MSP on October 16. October seems like it will be a big month for ATA with the new SFO-EWR flights and added service to BOS, PHL and EWR. Any chance of a new city being added anytime soon?

Well done, ATA, and good luck with these runs.

To folks who work for ATA, could you provide flight times with your press releases? Most airlines do.

ATA is the only way from Chicago to MSP, and six per day makes it even better.

More flights to existing markets is a good move. But I wonder if we are not missing the boat in northeast-FL market.

WNfan. The times are only of interest to a small segment of the traveling public and subject to change so why put it in when you can get it from the website?

I myself think this slow steady growth is good for TZ it kinda keeps them under the radar of the majors for the time being.

Not true, NW has non-stops from MDW and AA, NW and UA have them from ORD.

Ntspelich: I meant that ATA is the only LCC serving that market. I would much rather give them my business than the carriers you mention.

ATA767: AirTran, Frontier, and America West have announced new flights in the last two weeks, and each time they put flight times in the press release. I thought it was pertinent information that belonged in the release, and I appreciated it.

I'm surprised too that ATA has not reintroduced service from BOS to Florida, back about 94/95 ATA served a number of Florida markets from both BOS and PHL. I know out of BOS the loads were very good and many were surprised when ATA ended thoese flight. It would be nice to see ATA add flight to Florida again out of BOS along with some transcon service.

I remember workign those BOS flights and they were packed daily ! At the time I was told that we were undercut to the point we could not produce a yield that made it a profitable route.

A route that I think ATA should have capitalized on more was MCO-SJU that route is a gold mine, granted we fly 1 or 2 a day and 3 during december I think we could have flown at least two year round. Now Song and Spirit have entered the ring along with American who already flew the route for years.

Good point, Haveric. I should have indicated my LCC preference in the post.

I agree that Boston to Florida would probably work well for ATA.

I think ATA is missing the mark by not doing EWR -FL. They say they just do not have the planes but I would find them.

I've heard nothing but compliments about the PIT station. We have been getting many former USAirways passengers who prefer the one stop lower fare than the non-stop higher fare. Everyday I see at least 10-12 passengers come into GRR from PIT.
