If You Really Had The Chance....

Thu Aug 28, 2003 4:21 am

One does tend to give in to nostalgia. What would be your favorite flight, your favorite carrier, and even your favorite dream when it comes to flying back in the thirties?

I'd love to experience a crossing of the Atlantic in a zeppelin - not necessarily the Hindenburg  Big grin, but I would definitely go for the glamour and the totally different realm of experience. I would like to know whether the things felt as graceful in flight as they look from outside, would like to be able to read a novel while glancing down at a sunlit ocean passing at a leisurely pace under my feet.....

Now, is that the 1930s or the 1920s.... Big grin Did I just make a fool of myself?

Regards

A fool has no dreams.....

I would have wanted to be on the first flight around the world. That is, in 1924 on the DWC. Six month and six days, 371 hours of flying Big grin

My hometown, RKS-Rock Springs, WY, was on United's original Main Line route back in the 30's. They flew Boeing 247's. It would have been fun to fly there and see what it was like in the 30's, or board a flight in RKS to Chicago with a stop in Cheyenne to see United's Maintenance facility and FIRST Stewardess training facility.

Oh how I long for the day when the skies were truly Friendly!

1. Flying the Ford Tri-motor as a pilot.
2. Fly as a passenger in one of those luxury United Boeing 247's.

That would be pretty interesting, Kevin752. But you are 30-35 years late.

How about taking a 747sp or DC-10 back in time to the 30s and then freakin everyone out?

Also, it wouldnt hurt to do a little gambling in your favor on sporting events.
