Do An A380 Still Have A320 Type Wing Lets

Thu Aug 28, 2003 8:32 am

Most photos shows the A380 with A320 winglets. But I recently saw a photo of the A380 going though a wind tunnel test, and it had blended winglet like the 737NG. Do anybody know what type of winglet they are using on the A380. If you do please let me know thank you.

When artist renderings of the A340 first started appearing, they also showed the A310 type winglets, although we now know that they are much different. I would hazzard a guess that the A380 will have different winglets, but don't want to give out that information as of yet, for some reason.

I wouldn't be surprised if Airbus gave the A380 raked wingtips like Boeing has been doing lately.

(Raked winglets or wingtips?)

747400sp,

I have also seen some pics of the 380 with blended winglets. (in AW&ST I think)

Being that the 380 has grown by 97,000lbs scince it's launch date I would find it hard to think that Airbus will not install a larger winglet than what is usealy shown. It will have to be done to keep the takeoff length to the spec's that Airbus promised it's buyers.

On a personal note, I can't wait to see the virst one fly into MIA. Hopefuly VS or LF.
