New Routes For Tulsa?

Mon Sep 01, 2003 7:58 am

Hi all!

Has anyone heard rumors about carriers starting new service out of TUL? I read in our paper that AS is considering launching nonstop mainline service to SEA. I have also heard the rumor that Eagle might begin nonstop RJ service to LAX. Any others out there?

Alaska to TUL? NO, won't happen. I have a route map if we can dropp our CASM to 7.25. Many cities are added, and TUL is not one of them. Sorry!

That "rumor" might have started as a joke after Alaska had some diversions into TUL. IIRC, they were all SEA-Florida flights (or vice versa). Seems like there were 2 or 3 in as many weeks, about a month or two back, for mechanicals or pax problems....

OPNLguy- I bet you are right. I know the SEA-MCO divertion was a medical with one of the flight attendant. I know the Captain "Bart", we was tell me all about it. The other 1 I know of was MX problem. There is no market for TUL-SEA. TUL could see more Alaska though, we are starting a "Redeye" to MCO...maybe a divertion at 4am or so  Smile

Not that this would happen, but I would see Horizon in ICT before AS were to go to TUL...just because of the Boeing connection.

Wedge- As I said above I have that future route structure map if CASM goes down, and actually AS does have ICT on it. I agree I can see QX first though.

SLC is on the route map from SEA only. The only new city from SFO is DEN service, and ANC year round. We hear talk about going up to 35 flight out of here within a 2 year time frame, but we need more gates. This map doen't include QX though.

Copa- seems we chat alot  Smile......No, you won't see AS in BIL. Alaska is targeting longer routes. QX will continue the short and thin. Remember we are owned by the same company, so we have the luxury of still making the money on the route. Look for Alaska going East and South.
Copa, where are you from?

Well, the only thing I can say to answer copa's question about AS and QX in BOI is this. Alaska will probably have about 3 or 4 gates in BOI, because they had bought those, and I am not sure of the number, but it was like 3 or 4. QX will have around 10 to 12 to even 14 gates as far as I know. I have been hearing Horizon AND Alaska have been planning on expanding and it seems like it, with all the gates they bought. I would love to see them both expand in BOI

I  Love BOI

AS739X,

Just curious about what cities/routes will possibly be added, I understand this is just strategic planning, but would love to see where AS is considering new service. And NO, I will not even ask about PVD service, since it would be mostly unrealistic at this time. Thanks in advance for any info...

AS739x,

I'm also very curious about what AS plans are for PDX. Do you happen to have any info?

TUL and AS....mm... sounds about as reliable as the STL Post-Dispatch aviation news. You can't listen to anything! However, it could happen albeit very far-fetched. We can all hope I guess as I'm from STL, and I'd like to see in the *far future* a bigger AA operation.
AS739X, PLEASE tell me STL is in the works. I would love to see that Eskimo man tail sittin at an E or A gate. What about IND? Doubt it but, it would provide convenient service to my aunt and uncle who we are going to go visist in SEA since I am in school here at Indiana.

No, TUL-SEA was no rumor. It was printed in ink in the Tulsa World way before the diversion incident. Maybe I should clarify, though, that TUL was one of 20 or so cities under consideration for a limited no. of choices by AS. I did not expect we would be chosen. Just interesting that the route was being studied.
