I seem to have a lot of them lately.
I was on a British Airways flight that took off from my home airport, DFW
, and flew non-stop to TLV
. The sun was setting the entire time, so throughout the entire flight, the world around me had an orange/yellow tint. It was very vivid. We flew over middle and northern Africa, crossing part of the Mediterranean, finally landing in TLV
. The plane was a 777. At TLV
, we changed planes to an EL AL 777 bound for Haifa. Again, the sun was always on the horizon. The flight to Haifa took several hours over a desert like land. I remember thinking about King Hussein from Jordan, and how I needed a Jordanian visa. In the middle of the flight, 4 men, 1 of them a westerner, the other three dressed in Islamic style clothing, stood up with machine guns and took control of the flight. We landed in Haifa next to a huge garden with statues and lots of green grass and trees. There was a semi-circle type building at the end of the gardens on a hill. The passengers were directed to leave the airplane and walk through the garden to the building. However, as the 150 odd passengers left the airplane, we ran and hid in the garden behind the statues, tall pointy trees, and in the buildings. There was a large shoot-out between the Israeli armed forces and the highjackers. The highjackers were killed by the Israelis, and we returned to the EL AL 777. We took off for TLV
in the middle of the day, and as soon as we landed, we got on a tour bus and took a shopping tour of Tel Aviv.
I was on a DC-10 of NWA. I had boarded in OKC
and we were bound for AMS
, non-stop. We took off and circled around OKC
for a few minutes gaining altitude. All of a sudden, the plane's nose went straight up and we were thrust to the back of our seats. I could see my parent's house from the window getting smaller, and I could feel the aircraft losing speed rapidly. I looked out the window and the ailerons were being ripped off the wings, and the engines detached themselves from the wings. Then, as we hit zero speed in the nose up position, the aircraft started falling tail first. That's when I had that sensation of falling that so many of us have had when we dream. It lasted what seemed like forever. I could see my house getting closer and closer as we fell. We crashed into the SuperThrift grocery store down the street, but the fuselage remained intact in some sections, and most of us walked away.
I'm flying in a 777 of United airlines from DEN
. We skim the tops of the mountains in the sunset, and follow the paths of the ski-lifts at ski resorts all the way to LAX
. The whites, greens, and oranges are extremely vivid. There is yellow, soft hugh in the cabin. I was originally seated in business, but was upgraded to first after we were in the air for an hour. The flight is extremely smooth as we follow the sunset onward to LAX
. For some reason, I can see the inside of the cabin at the same time I can see the outside of the airplane. The outside of the plane has that orange hugh as well, (ya know, kinda like when you set the time to DUSK on FS2004). We land at LAX
and taxi among an HUGE amount of United Airlines widebodies, mainly 744's. There are also about 4 Garuda Indonesia 744's there as well. We exit the aircraft into the international terminal. It's got very tall ceilings, but it's kind of 50's/60's architecture inside, sort of space age. There are huge multi colored banners hanging up, perhaps flags? Anyway, I make my way to a United 744, and we make our way from LAX
to JKT, going eastward instead of west. We make one stop in CPT
, then we make a stop in Colombo, and finally onto Jakarta. It was dark the entire trip, but I could still make out landforms on the ground.
That's all I can think of so far.
"Bangkok Tower, United 890 Heavy. Bangkok Tower, United 890 Heavy.....Okay, fine, we'll just turn 190 and Visual Our Way
