N747GE At HKG

Mon Dec 27, 1999 12:27 am

Yesterday, I saw the Boeing 747-100(N747GE,ship no 25) at HKG. It flew to HKG in Nov for D-check. The aircraft now is carrying 3 engines only and the no.2 engine is not installed. The reg of the plane is red color.
I don't know why GE flew the jet to HKG for D-check. Why not in USA?or In Europe?
But I am very very happy to see such plane.

Hi, just returned from HKG and actually saw 4 all white B747s with Haeco (plus Orbis DC-10) today (26/12).
Alos, upon arrival 24/12 I saw an all white 747-100 (three windows) but engines were dark blue! Could you try to identify, is it N747GE ?
Thanks,

Hi F-WWKH, Just so you know, a B747 with three windows up top doesnt always mean its a -100 series. There are many -200's like that as well.

The planes in white color fuselage and blue engines is belong to Tower Air (N603FF). If I waked up one hour early on 24/12, I am sure I can take the photo of it on approach to 25R.(I saw it over my home in that day morning). Now it was in the hanger and may be changed the color.SO SAD.

HS-LTA: Thanks your info. Do you also know where N747GE then was on 26/12 - as far as I could see 2 B747s were parked in front of Haeco and 2 were hangared. Thanks!

SCXMechanic: Valid point but actually I meant it the other way round: some -100s have more than three windows and I wanted to stress the one I mean has three windows only (which might make it easier for HS-LTA to identify if its N747GE)

I saw a Tower Air 747 a few weeks ago with very small titles and blue engines. This was flying for Cargolux and it was a ex - Air India aircraft. Reg was N104TR

I think one of the other 747's is N743PR. Its also been in the Hanger a long time.

Remember Concorde arrives on the 31st !!!!

Bye Daryl

P.S. I'm hoping to spend the whole day on the 29th at CLK. Anyone free ???
Bush, your a sad, sad man.

I was at CLK yesterday and the following was outside/at HAECO:
1) Saudia 747-300 HZ-AIS
2) N743PR 747-200 (All white but destined for Philippine Airlines again!)
3) B-HXA A340-300 Cathay
4) A white 747 (Could not see any reg)

I didn't see any 747sp. or specifically, an Atlas 747 or a Tower 747. Could have been the white 74 in the hangar. Not sure.

Mandarin MD11, B150 is still there in bits though.
