I like the 777.

2x5x2--in coach
2x2x2--in business
Any first class is great.

I very much like the Boeing 767 seat configuration of 2-3-2...This way, there are 2 aisles and also, few seats per row, which means that people have an easier time getting in/out and do not feel so cramped. In the B747 and MD11, where the seating is 3-4-3 and 2-5-2 respectively, it's a little more cramped and thus less spacious and more work to get in / out of your seat, etc.

I agree with A330Fan1. 2-3-2 on 767 is quite a nice configuration. But generally 2-4-2 in Economy class on A330/340 is quite nice too. Also 2-2 in Upper Deck Business Class on B747 are nice too.

I like the 2-3 of the DC-9/M-8x
And also i like 3-3 of 727-737
I don't know A32x yet.
Just put me on any modern airliner and i will be happy, give me more star alliance miles and i will be a lot more happy.

I'm quite partial to the 1-2 configuration on an RJ 145.

Actually, the 777's basic configuration is 2-2-2 for FIRST class and business is 2-3-2. Many airlines these days have 2-2-2 FC for their regional and short-range routes and 1-2-1F, 2-3-2C, and 3-3-3Y.

However, I like the 767 the best because it is perfectly symmetrical. 2-1-2 in First, 2-2-2 in Biz and 2-3-2 in Y. The only problem is there is no config if you wanted a premium Y. I don't like the 330 because F and C is the same 2-2-2 configuration. The 777 is cool because the cabin allows for 18.5+" seats rather than the regular 17".

I just love the CRJ-700 with 2x2 and the extra legroom in row 13/14 depending on the carrier

I like any aircraft with only two seats near the window. If you want the window, then you only have to bother one person to get up. And with the aisle seat, there's only person who could bother you during the flight. I just find the set up easier on long-haul flights, there isn't a cramped feeling and it's easier to get luggage out from the overhead bins.

Any J class config which has a single seat by the window - QF's long-haul 763's had this, and SAA's 747-200 (seat 22K was my favourite - J class single seat in the exit row, right next to the galley - you could just peer round the curtain and ask for things. Also on night stops in wierd and wonderful places like MRU or SID, you could stand on the top of the boarding stairs and get a breath of fresh air)

Also would like to know what's so special on qf 747-400. I think it's 3-4-3 like in most of other planes.
I love the QF 767-300 busi-class. It's great: 1-2-2 (usually 2-2-2).

There is nothing "special" about QF's 744's - they have the bog-standard 3-4-3 in steerage.

I can't believe that there are people who like a 2-5-2... I guess they have never been in that middle seat. Two people to each side, and no window. Argh! Even a 3-3-3 would probably be better than a 2-5-2.

Kempa - I loved the DC 10 - 2-5-2-configuration. sitting in the middle of the plane is not nice, that's true. but they are 2 seats away from the aisle, same as window-seat in a 777

I actually like 2-3 configuration on smaller aircrafts, it feels more spacious and it give a nice asymmetric touch to the aircraft.

I really like the 1-2 configuration on the Embraer Jets, I always take a single seat to avoid an unpleasant seat neighbor.

Patrick,
I would go for the 2-seat side in order to get a chance to get a damn-good-looking chick beside me. Laugh out loud

But seriously, I also really like the 767 2+3+2 and the Airbus widebody 2+4+2 layout. If on an empty flight I would of course go for the 777 with a 2+5+2 layout so I could strech out and sleep. But since I never was on an empty longhaul flight yet I can't speak out of experience here though...

For a 9-across cabin, Swissair had the best on their MD-11's - 2-4-3 - gets around the dreaded middle seat in the centre bank, seems to solve ALL of the aforementioned problems whilst keeping all of the good points. Don't know why more carriers don't use it.

I like the 2-3-2 configuration in 767's. Boeing designed it with this configuration so that 80% of the seats were either window or aisle seats. Smart move...not so many of the dreaded middle seats.  Big grin

Thadocta,

I was on a Finnair MD-11 last x'mas and the middle cabin was configured as 2-4-3 too. Only the back cabin was configured as 2-5-2. Although I was in 2-5-2 cabin but I found it quite comfortable with reasonable amount of legroom.

Just had my 1st flight on an ERJ-135. SURPRISINGLY I didn't care for the single seat. I usually carry my laptop and the case does not fit under the seat. Otherwise, it's fine. I do like the 777's 2-5-2 if you're lucky enough to fly by the windows. As a window seat guy, it's nice to know I'm only bugging one person if I get up and if I'm with my wife, it's perfect.

Depends on which class you're traveling...
For First Class, I would go for the 777 usually with a very roomy 1-2-1.

For Business Class, I would go for the A330 because it avoids the 2-3-2 of the 777 and the narrow (19 inch) 2-2-2 of the 767. Also, I like the upperdeck 2-2 of the Boeing 747.

For Economy Class, I like the 767. Even if the flight is empty, there is still sufficient room for me at least to stretch out and sleep, and there is only 1 middle seat.
