Anyone hear about the BA
flight back from the US where the captain came on the PA and announced that Princess Diana had died? It happened in Paris about 5am so most eastbound flights were halfway across. On this BA
flight, the captain made a PA thinking it would be of mild interest, or more likely didn't really think about it at all.
According to a flight attendent on another site, the announcement was met by shrieks of horror and grief, and people started rushing to the toilets to be sick. Not every single one, but LOADS apparently. Enough to put one vomiting, grief-stricken middle England housewife in each toilet. A couple of people who couldn't make it, either due to distance or already occupied, threw up in the cabin on other passengers who also started to be sick. All the while still people sobbing, a few screams etc. And an unbelievable smell, presumably.
How about that for a poorly judged PA? It makes "Welcome to Palestine" / "The good news is that we made a perfect takeoff" look like "Welcome to Baltimore, the local time is 4.58pm and the temperature is 18 degrees. Thanks for flying with us."
