Frontier To Start PBI Service In February...

Fri Sep 12, 2003 1:47 am

...I've heard from a reliable source. Let's just say it's from someone who is negotiating to do their ground handling.

Fresno is near the top of the list for next year also. FAT flights hinge on a couple of items which should be announced soon. If the announcements are positive for Fresno, then Frontier Airbuses on FAT-DEN should begin in 2004. Otherwise it could be a year longer wait.

Just as a side note, FAT passenger counts are up, with a new monthly boarding record set in July rising 8% over July 2002. YTD numbers at FAT are up 4% vs. the national average which is down 2 to 3% from last year.

could BIL be in the running for F9 service? i remember that they were served by F9 around 95-96. FATflyer- where will F9s ticket counters be at FAT? last time i was there, it looked like all the space for ticket counters was taken up. there is plenty gate space though.

Copaair737,

There is lots of counter space available. When you come in the terminal doors to the right is a currently unused counter area with room for probably at least 10 agent positions. It is the short wall at the bottom of this terminal map.

That area has been used by several airlines over the years including Morris.

Gates are available in the concourse in both the old and new concourse areas. The airport site home page has a picture of the new concourse for those who haven't seen it.

I know that Jacksonville, FL is actively pursuing Frontier. Currently, the furthest west anybody flies from JAX is Texas (DL and AA to Dallas, CO to Houston). United used to fly to Denver once upon a time, but that ended when Atlantic Coast took over the station (and drove away all the loyal UA fliers by being the worst airline around, aside from ASA).
