Frontier A318 In Cyul Right Now.

Fri Sep 12, 2003 4:09 am

FlightID: FFT2011
Status: FILED
Filed With: KZMP - Minneapolis, MN
Equipment: /A318/R
Proposed Departure Time: 1838Z
Departing: CYUL MONTREAL INTL DORVAL
Destination: DEN DENVER INTL
Route of Flight: YUL..YEE..ASP..BAE..DBQ.J100.OBH.J10.LBF..KHORT..MODES..AMWAY..SYLVR..DUNNY..DEN/0314
ETA: 2218
Speed: 0445
Altitude: 390

Filed to come to Denver. I have been hearing F9 might serve Montreal, Toronto and Calgary in the future. Could this be a proving flight? I know the new A318's and A319's do not get delivered non-stop to DEN, so I have a feeling this A318 operating this one is already in the fleet.

Thanks

It's probably a demo for AC who is considering the 318.

I doubt it's a route proving flight for F9.....F9 has no immediate plans to add any Cdn cities.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

As to F9 serving Canada, I'd prefer Montreal to any other city.

Thanks for the info Mariner. Also to add F9 serving Canada. A freind that works the International flights here in DEN for F9 to Mexico, said in the daily morning breifing had Toronto, Calgary and Montreal in future routes for Transborder flights.

Canada is in near future for routings.

Thanks

Aaron:

Thanks for that, it would be really good news if/when it happens.

Most people have been suggesting Vancouver as F9's first Canadian destination, but it seems ot me that city is already well served from Denver.

Montreal, on the other hand, has very limited - if any - non stop service to the US west.

cheers

Interesting that Frontier pulled N801FR from revenue service to make a trip to YUL(the date of the photo Sept 10, 2003 is the giveaway). 801 and their second A318, N802FR, are what constitutes their entire 318 fleet right now, and both operate full-time schedules, one overnighting at DEN, the other at RNO. MSY's sole Frontier flight is a 318, so we see each plane every other day.

802 took a nice 3 hour mechanical delay here in MSY yesterday. Computer problems. The 318's have had their share of problems since joining the fleet I will say that.

Incidentally, the day 801 was in YUL, we got a 732 down here in MSY, aircraft 272, the last 732 in the fleet. Blast from the past!

You were correct in your assumption, it was there for AC Management, Employees, Frequent Fliers and goverment officials for evaluation,

Montreal only has western-US service to LAX, SFO and LAS with Air Canada. Air Canada also served YUL-DEN in 2000 but axed the route in 2001. I'm hoping either Air Canada, United or Frontier will one day restart the route.
