I am just glad that they didn't rename DTW
, Coleman Young Airport. It is bad enough that they named a terminal McNamara after one of the most corrupt politicians in the U.S., probably not much worse than Chicago's Daley (either of them). Although McNamara was a big proponent of expanding DTW
and building the new terminal, the terminal was named while he was STILL in office. As for Coleman Young, he has to be Detroit's worst ever mayor. Yes he was Detroit's first ever black mayor, but Detroit really went downhill while he was in office. Crime rose, he was corrupt. Although the city is slowly improving, half of the city looks worse than a 3rd world country still from his days in office. The only good thing Young did for aviation was his attempt at expanding Detroit City Airport, but that failed.
