Emb 170 At Pit

i dont know if anyone posted this yet but last saturday the emb 170 was in pit in a us airways hangar then brought up to gate b45 then put back in the hangar. i know it was still there tuesday but im not sure if it left yet

I read this on another site. Was it in US Airways colors or Embraer house colors?

its in embraer colours, its just like the "show model" is what i was told

It is there to get the ground crews familiar with it and how it will work. The first US Airways Embraer 170 should be there in November, I believe, and enter scheduled service in January.

November? This aircraft still hasn't received its certificates so this may be significanlty delayed.

I have heard that the Embrarer 170 is not actually a regional jet and will be used for mainline flights. Is this true? I am assuming that it will not seem much different than say a DC9 to the average traveller.

That is correct that the Embraer 170 will be flown as a mainline US Airways product and not USX.

A correction to my dates above, according the information the guys are providing on USAviation...first delivery is going to be sometime in December and first revenue flight is January 5th.

Does anybody know which routes the EMB170 will fly for US?

PIT - ???

Hoping that maybe SDF may get mainline service back with this aircraft.

yeah, supposedly STL is going to be one of the first EMB-170 destinations from CLT. Seems about right, can't quite support a 733 or A319 but can support an EMB-170. Raises questions to me if it will be uprgraded from an express station. Don't exactly know the mainline # of flights that can be operated without being Mainline. Hopefully some other stations can get their mainline A/C back too.

The Embraer 170 can operate into stations that are either Express or Mainline Express. You will never see another station upgraded to Mainline again. As for mainline operations into the Express/Mainline Express...US Airways can operated a 737/A319 or larger into the station for only 4 consecutive months per year without needing to upgrade the station to mainline.

As far as cities that will be served come January 5th. This list is being kept close to the chest in the Crystal Palace. Any one saying "we are going to be one of the first" is just relaying a rumor that someone passed on from someone else. We should know more in a month.

The distinction between an express station and a mainline station is obvious, but what exactly is a mainline express station? Just it just mean a combination of express and mainline flights, or is there something more to it (i.e. different management, etc.)?
