US-PIT Announcement

Thu Sep 18, 2003 3:15 am

Although it's not the news I expected out of the big meeting in Harrisburg today between US and the parties interested in saving PIT, it's something.

Out of curiosity, if US serves 108 of the 110 destinations out of PIT, what are the two they don't - and who serves them?

"What’s more, eight regional Pennsylvania points -- Altoona, Bradford, DuBois, Franklin, Johnstown, Latrobe, Reading and Williamsport -- all would lose air service if the current Pittsburgh hub were eliminated."

Shit... my family flies to JST every year... we always take US Express... can't they just fly their aircraft from PHL if PIT is closed?

I found this interesting out of the email that they sent out to dividend miles members:

We continue to believe that there is a solution that will allow us to retain our hub at Pittsburgh International and continue to provide our customers in Western Pennsylvania with the highest levels of air service possible. Looking forward, we see many opportunities to improve air service in Western Pennsylvania through the introduction of regional jets. Our ultimate objective is to conclude an agreement with state and local officials that will allow us to proceed with these plans.

I also liked the WN bashing in the email they sent out. But, I don't want to start something on here. But, it's starting to look somewhat good for PIT.

If they do stay, what's the chance of PIT becoming the focus city that it was rumored B6 wanted to start? I haven't been to the airport in a while, but last time I was there seemed to be about 6 gates in C or D concourse...

DeltaFFinDFW: I know one of them is MDW (ATA) and I think the other is a USA3000 destination (Punta Cana maybe)

Ntspelich, I'm sorry, but B6 has been rumored to start focus cities at nearly every city in the United States. I doubt it will happen. I thought the last rumored focus city was SVOLaugh out loud
