Turbo-probs High Above Hebrides

Thu Sep 18, 2003 9:17 pm

Hey'all,
I just got back from visiting the Outer Hebrides in Scoland (Stornoway/SYY) and always notice turboprops over at about 15/20 thousand feet, but theres no commercial turboprop services which will go over the island. The seem to head NW as most jets do, but the off to the USA; very much doubt they are off over the Pond! Anyone know?

Perhaps they are RAF doing drills and stuff above there.

What kind of turboprops? Were they big or small?

one of them looked like a HErcules, the others look like Beech 1900 size, with twin engined low wing and a high t-tail
