Embraer 170 At CRL Today

Fri Sep 19, 2003 6:09 am

Hi !

I would like to share with you a pleasant event I experienced today.

This morning at my office on the border of the runway of CRL-Brussels South Charleroi Airport (Belgium; one of the Ryanair's continental hubs), we received a nice mail from the HR-Department, announcing us the arrival of a friendly visitor : one of the few (already) existing Embraer 170, expected to land at 14:30 local time (GMT+2). I have to say that our company developed and now produces the slats of this beautiful bird. That's why we all rushed on the tarmac to see our babies in action during the approach and the landing. She was pretty much on time ! Then we enjoyed a very close external visit. Many pictures were taken, hopefully I will be able to show you some of them in a few days. I couldn't unfortunately wait until the take off because other tasks were waiting for me...

Well, that's all !

Nicolas

PS : registration PP-XJA if I remember well.

The Embraer 170 is on a promotional visit to Belgium, as the Brasilian company is hoping to sell a significant number of these planes to an undisclosed Belgian airline....

Could be the only type of flight that CRL will see in a year or so unfortunately. Is the new 5M capacity terminal still going ahead?

Donder10 :

On a side note, CRL is a quite interesting airport but you have to be patient. Apart FR flight, we can "regularly" see (in frequency of appearance) :

1) F-16 : a couple of movements/week
2) SN's Avro : less intensive these times I think, but a few month ago we had series of touch & go... (including a friend of mine getting his license type)
3) C-130
4) Alpha-Jet
5) A-300B4F from DHL
6) A-10 from USAFE
7) F-50 from VLM
8) E-3? Awacs

And sometimes other "one shot" flights I would say. We have also a good load of general aviation flights.

Of course all these flights don't bring a lot of pax in CRL, but this is an other story  Wink/being sarcastic

My wish is now that Airbus is as friendly as Embraer is, and that in late 2005 we receive the visit of an A380-800 "Globus". This was the first project I worked on, so I would be very pleased to see her at CRL  Smile/happy/getting dizzy  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Finally, let's know that two Mil Mi-26 helicopters are parked at CRL. I don't really know their status.

So, let's come and enjoy CRL !!

Konstantin,

I wish you luck, hopefully you will get a seat on the demo flight. Last year I got a seat on the demo flight of the Embraer 170 when it visited DTM but unfortunately the flight got cancelled because of bad weather  Sad.
