Aer Lingus is reported to be/have been interested in the RJ-X as a replacement for the 146s, of which it now operates eight. The airline also operates about 8 735s as well, so it would probably be looking for about 14-16 aircraft in the 80-120 seat class. It's by no means certain that the RJX will go ahead, so it may well be another type. One consideration will be the need to get into London City; can a conventionally winged aircraft such as the A317/8 or 728/928JET do this?

As far as I know only the Avros and new RJ-X will be able to operate into London City. This is the reason why Crossair is still looking on some RJ-X to fly to this airport as the new ERJ-170/-190 won´t be able to do so. I don´t believe that the Avro RJ-X will go ahead soon, the big airlines to take this type such as Lufthansa, Crossair, Malmö Aviation (takes the 9 RJ100 from SAM Colombia), Mesaba have already choosen other planes or their are so new that there is no need for the RJ-X.
