More West-Coast Regionals?

Sun Sep 21, 2003 2:02 pm

Do you think there is any more room on the west coast for a regional startup? The only major regionals on the west coast are Skywest and Mesa, followed by Horizon. Americna Eagle has a strong presence, but only in California, and most United Express/Air Wisconsin flights originate in Denver but fly eastward. If so, where would be good hub cities and viable aircraft. Which niche would the carrier fill?

I think that Delta lacks a good Delta Connection carrier on the west coast. I would like to see ASA have more of a west coast operation possibly out of LAX so DL can get rid of the AE flights.

The answer right now is no. The market is saturated, however, a different product (Embraer Legacy w/19-20 seats) may work. You;d have to do some pretty short hops for the model to work though.
