Pilots And Camera's?

Sun Sep 21, 2003 8:39 pm

Ive seen many a cockpit shot and majority of the time its a shot taken before and after the flight where permission is granted by the crew, some shots are by a lucky person who gets to fly jumpseat.

But my question is how many pilots out there frequently take their camera's on their flights to take cockpit, Highflying contrail shots etc....

I take my camera with me on every flight!I bought the Olympus C740 because of the large zoom there is a lot you can do with that cam.
But especially for inflight pics of other aircrafts the autofocus is a bit to slow so non of my inflight pic got accepted untill now.

I carry a little IXUS camera with me, but occassionally my Canon EOS, although I have yet to even see many good photo ops, let alone have my camera ready!

Two Airliners.net examples would be Julian Whitelaw and Bailey. I think that luck is one of their most important helpers, though. It's probably not really plannable to have that 747 pass 2000 feat beneath you in perfect lighting, with a nice contrail, while you're not busy with something more important than taking photos.
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Taken in the air from AirTran.

I really hope the photographer works for AirTran or these pilots are in big trouble.
