ATA DOESN'T FLY To CLE! Or Do They?

Tue Sep 23, 2003 7:45 am

I looked on CLe's official website and they have ATA listed on the airlnes serving it. I went to ATA.com and saw that they don't serve CLE. What is the explanation? And what airlines do fly CLE right now?

Thx for ur help!

I think someone said earlier that a while back they saw an ATA 757 leave from CLE to either Shannon or Dublin. However since ATA's website does not list CLE as a destination I would say that at one time they might have served CLE, but not anymore. However I could be wrong. Some airport websites are not updated very well.

ATA Flies to CLE for charters for Funjet I believe. I know they serve LAS, not sure if they serve any other destination.

Airlines serving CLE

American
Continental
United
Southwest
US Airways
Delta
Northwest
America West
USA 3000
Skyway/Midwest Express
Air Canada

In case you have not noticed, the CLE airport site is always out of date and really needs some work. It is not a reliable source of information.

Thank you CLEfan for clearing that up. I did not know that ATA still uses CLE for charter flights.

ATA flies to LAS very often, but it's charter. It's a 737-800.

TZ does the CUN charter flights for FunJet as well. During the Winter high season the flights call all over Mexico and the Caribbean almost daily.

Well, wherever they go, there's an AmTran 737 in Cleveland about every day.

AmTrans flies CLE-LAS-CLE and yes, they are charter flights with a 737-800. There is no "scheduled service" to/from Cleveland; you must book it through FunJet vacations. You can see the 738 with blended winglets arrive in Cleveland sometime between 6:30 PM (scheduled arrival) and 8:00 PM (often arrives late) almost every night.

AmTrans, AmTran, this is all rather confusing and similar to those other people, AirTran. We wouldn't want to spark confusion, now would we? How about we just go with ATA (The current short form of the airline, ATA Airlines, Inc., fka American Trans Air) whose callsign happens to be AmTran until it can be changed.
