Did they overrun lengthwise or to one side? Can't quite see it on the pics...

Lengthwise would be a real surprise as the runway is extremely long in LUX.

Bad news indeed! Overloaded ERJ 145 with 8 pax and 4 crew I have my doubts about that theorie! I landed very offen in Luxembourg and to overrun that runway is nearly impossible, the lenght is about 4000m and even Cargolux 747-400F heavy loaded don't have to fear to overrun that runway so I think we have to wait and look forward to hear from official side some news and gladly to hear that there
are no injured pax that at least is the good news  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

lol-yeah i missed the 8 passengers bit (red faced!!),I was too busy figuring out what may have happened (thats why i dont work for the NTSB lol.)
Seriously though, another idea as brake failure??
its a shame its LGZ, ive seen the bird a few times, hopefully she wont be deemed as a write-off and will fly again soon.

As far as I understand the flight originated in Vienna.

Johnnybgoode, they came in from Vienna.
Planespotterx, when looking at the pictures than I would say
that the ERJ is even in a good condition (just a few little bumps and scratches in the nose section but that's all)
and not a write-off for sure!

Here is the link http://www.wort.lu/newindex.html with some excellent pictures!!!

Hello,
I saw the aircraft sitting next to the runway today, just some minutes after the incident. The airport was closed immediately, but was reopened again shortly afterwards so that not too many diversions were necessary. It had arrived on runway 06 and came to a halt north of the runway, opposite of the tower. I would estimate that this is approximately half of the runway length?

From my position it looked as if the aircraft was sitting quite close to the runway, but when I saw the photos on the website of the "Luxembourger Wort" (www.wort.lu) today, I was amazed to see that it even went through the airport fence! Thank god that nobody was hurt...

Around 1500h local they moved the aircraft and towed it into Luxairs hangar. Even though it looked at first as if it was a belly landing, LX-LGZ is still on its wheels. Lets hope there's no major structural damage.

As a result of the incident, the 12:05h flight to Copenhagen was subsequently cancelled.

Edit: There has just been a photo added to the database, taken from Sandweiler (and by another Tom) :
