NW's 3rd A-330 Spotted At GRR: N803NW

Wed Sep 24, 2003 10:23 pm

Had a nice surprise yesterday- Tuesday 23 Sept. NWA's third A330, N803NW, was here in GRR (Grand Rapids, MI) doing touch and go's and some full stop landings for crew training. After about an hour and a half N803NW flew on to MSP.

Hopefully we'll be a regular stop for NWA's A330 training. It sure made my day!!!

I have some photos that I may submit to A.net.

That would have been cool to see at GRR since the largest plane that they seem to see now is a 737.

I hope you post those pictures to the yahoo group because I really want to see them. United's 735's and Northwest's A320's are the largest scheduled service planes that we see except for Spring Break. Occassionally Northwest and ATA will upgrade equipment to cope with the need. Also ATA has run charters using the 753, 752, L-1011, and 738

doesn't DL fly mainline in there? I thought US Air did a couple years back as well. I know they've cut their mainline PIT runs here in MSP.

DL does fly one daily mainline flight to GRR from CVG. Currently a 732, although it has been an MD88 in the past.

I'm not familiar with the Yahoo group, but I'd be happy to post the photos there- let me know the address/ name.

I've been on the 732 DL flight from GRR to CVG, inadvertently. I was flying from MKE-EWR on a CO Express ERJ, and they had an inflight engine shutdown and diverted to GRR. The CO people put me on the DL flight then.

That must have been cool to see that huge plane doing touch-and-gos like that. I can't wait to see one of the NW A330s in person for myself!

Will any more 333s be going to FAR for practice flights? I know when N802NW was delivered it came here a few times. I would love to make the drive to see one of these beauties again. We don't see anything larger than a 727 in GFK. Maybe I'll see it at MSP this weekend. Thanks in advance for any info you might have.

Tjwgrr:

What times was the a/c @ GRR doing its operations?

I must have missed it. I flew in @ 3:48 P.M. on the DL 732, and was out of the airport area by 4:15 P.M.

I bet the spotters @ the observation park off 52nd/Patterson had a real treat that day!

We have to see those pics! If you can't get them on yahoo or a.net - send them to me!! b4real@usa.net

B4real,

The a/c was here from around 1700-1830 before heading to MSP.

I posted a few photos on the Yahoo group site. I'll see if A.net will accept one or two of the photos, and perhaps the competition Jet(something).net.  Wink/being sarcastic

I saw N803NW at MSP Tuesday morning. I was on a plane headed to Denver. It was in line for a 30L departure. Wish I could have gotten a photo of it, but the sun angle wasn't right at the time.
