Ok, I am going to put in a good word for Cardiff, as it is my hometown but I am exiled in London.
The facilities there are pretty poor, especially when compared to the new terminal at BRS
. But there is some variety for spotters at CWL
, especially when there are rugby charters for international matches during the winter. The location is also very good, near to the coast. Soon a rail link will re-open between the airport and the city.
Other contributors to this thread are correct- Cardiff will never be an international hub, but on the positive side, BMI
Baby chose CWL
, and Air Wales has expanded services in recent months. I fly with them to CWL
regularly, and that route seems to be quite popular. CWL
also has regular charters to the US and Canada.
But the fact that BA
pulled out was a real blow.
I think that the airport's old slogan, "Large enough to cope, small enough to care" pretty much sums it up.
